Colombia's Tourism Surges 22 Percent in First Half of 2026, Ministry Reports
More than 3.1 million international visitors arrived in Colombia between January and June, with Cartagena, San Andrés, and the Coffee Region leading the way.

Colombia's Ministry of Tourism reported on July 4 that international arrivals rose 22 percent in the first half of 2026, reaching 3.1 million visitors by June 30. The figure marks a significant acceleration compared with the same period last year.
Officials attributed the growth to improved security conditions, new visa policies that have lowered barriers for travelers from key markets, and a broader global interest in Colombia as a destination. Cartagena, San Andrés, and the Coffee Region were cited as the top draws for foreign tourists.
The World Cup, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, has also amplified Colombia's international profile, with fans from around the world gaining exposure to the country through La Tricolor's strong tournament run.
For Colombians in the diaspora considering a visit home, the numbers suggest infrastructure and hospitality services are scaling up to meet demand, though popular destinations like Cartagena and San Andrés are likely to see higher prices and fuller hotels through the summer.
