Medellín Launches 'Fiesta de los Andes' Festival with 50,000 Attendees on Opening Night
The inaugural festival brought together Colombian acts Bomba Estéreo and Aterciopelados alongside international headliners at a debut event organized by the city's cultural department.

Medellín kicked off its first-ever 'Fiesta de los Andes' music festival on July 1, drawing more than 50,000 attendees to an event that organizers hope will become a fixture on the global festival calendar. The lineup featured Colombian bands Bomba Estéreo and Aterciopelados alongside Canadian artist The Weeknd.
The festival was organized by Medellín's city cultural department and is positioned as a showcase for both homegrown Colombian talent and international acts. Its launch coincides with a broader surge in cultural tourism to Colombia during the World Cup period.
For the diaspora, the event is a reminder of how Medellín has transformed its cultural profile over the past decade, moving well beyond its industrial and troubled past to become one of Latin America's most talked-about cities for music, art and innovation.
No dates for a second edition have been announced, but city officials told local media they view the inaugural event as a strong foundation for an annual festival.
