The Colombian winger returned to preseason on August 1 on a limited workload, with coach Vincent Kompany mapping out a gradual buildup before the 2026-27 season begins.

Luis Díaz eases back into Bayern Munich training after World Cup exit

Luis Díaz was back on the training pitch at Bayern Munich on August 1, rejoining the squad after his post-World Cup break following Colombia's penalty-shootout elimination against Switzerland in the Round of 16 on July 7.

Coach Vincent Kompany addressed the situation on August 4, saying Díaz was not yet ready for high-intensity demands and that the plan was to bring him along gradually through preseason friendlies, building his minutes before the new Bundesliga campaign gets underway.

The careful management reflects the physical toll of a deep tournament run. Díaz played a central role in La Tricolor's campaign, which included wins over Uzbekistan, DR Congo and Ghana before the heartbreaking exit on penalties against the Swiss, with Ruben Vargas converting the decisive spot kick.

For Colombian fans in the diaspora, watching Díaz settle back into club life at one of Europe's biggest clubs is one of the few consolations of a summer that ended earlier than hoped.
