ELN Blamed for Car Bomb Near Police Station on Venezuelan Border

Colombian authorities have attributed a car bomb attack outside a police station in Los Patios, Norte de Santander, to the National Liberation Army (ELN). The blast, which occurred on September 1, killed one civilian and injured 11 people, including police officers, according to WTOP and France 24.

Officials linked the bombing to recent government military operations in Guaviare, suggesting the attack was a retaliatory strike by the armed group. President Abelardo de la Espriella publicly vowed to pursue those responsible.

The incident remains central to security coverage in Colombia over the past several days, underscoring the persistent threat posed by the ELN along the country's northeastern border region with Venezuela.
