Dollar Eases Slightly in Colombia, Closing at COP 3,118 on Monday

The U.S. dollar closed at COP 3,118.85 in Colombia's spot market on Monday, September 7, finishing slightly below the official Tasa Representativa del Mercado (TRM) of COP 3,126.08 certified by the Superintendencia Financiera for that day.

During the session the dollar moved between a low of COP 3,114 and a high of COP 3,140, a relatively tight range. Media outlets described the movement as a mild decline compared with the previous close near COP 3,127.

The modest softening of the dollar came on the same day that Colombia's statistics agency released the August inflation figure, which came in above expectations at 6.24% year-on-year. Currency traders will be watching whether the inflation surprise shifts expectations around Banco de la República policy in the weeks ahead.
