Colombia's Unemployment Falls by 160,000 in a Year, Reaching 2.16 Million
Fresh labor market data published August 31 show employment growing by 578,000 jobs over the past year, a 2.4% annual increase.

Colombia's unemployed population dropped by approximately 160,000 people in one year, landing at around 2.16 million, according to labor market figures published on August 31, 2026.
At the same time, the number of employed Colombians reached 24.54 million, an annual increase of roughly 578,000 workers, representing 2.4% growth in employment over the period.
The figures offer a measure of good news for the de la Espriella administration as it takes stock of the economy it inherited, even as other indicators, including a rising dollar and mounting health-sector debt, point to significant fiscal pressures ahead.
