Colombia's foreign ministry has announced that citizens of 13 countries, including China and Haiti, will now be required to obtain entry visas before traveling to Colombia. The new rules replace a 2018 policy that had exempted those nations from visa requirements, according to The Rio Times, which reported the change on September 6.
The ministry cited reciprocity as the reason for the shift, pointing to countries such as Israel, which began requiring visas from Colombian travelers in 2025. Officials emphasized that the changes apply to inbound visitors and do not affect Colombians living abroad.
The policy adjustment is part of a broader recalibration of Colombia's international posture under the new administration, which has also been active on border security and bilateral diplomacy in recent weeks.
