Colombian financial markets posted one of their best single-session performances in recent months on 25 August, with the COLCAP index climbing to 2,511 points and the peso trading at 3,044 per US dollar.

Colombia's COLCAP equity index rose 2.09% on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, closing at 2,511 points and pushing toward the top of its 52-week range. Market analysts described it as one of the index's strongest single-session advances in recent months.
The Colombian peso also gained ground, strengthening 0.99% to 3,044 per US dollar. The move extended a broader trend in which the dollar has fallen roughly 21% against the peso over the past year, reflecting improved investor sentiment toward Colombian assets.
The rally comes as the country is simultaneously managing the humanitarian and economic fallout from the Chocó earthquake, making the market performance a notable signal of underlying confidence in Colombian fundamentals.
